Writing a news lead (or lede)

1.Who: Michael and Robert Meeropol
What: Found out their father was a spy
   When: July 1950
   Where: Lower East Side
Why: Cooperation with Soviet propaganda campaigns
   How: F.B.I. agents arrested them
Lead: They were the most famous orphans of the cold war, only 6 and 10 years old in 1953 when  their   parents were executed at Sing Sing for delivering atomic-bomb secrets to the Soviet Union. Then they were whisked from an unwanted limelight to urban anonymity and eventually to suburban obscurity.
My lead: Michael and Robert Meeropol were so young when their parents were arrested and supposedly helping the Soviet Union in the early 1950s. The Rosenberg couple have struggled to prove their innocence but ended up with death penalty because following the facts just wasn't enough.

2.Who: Action Comics No. 1
What: Is being sold after being hidden since 1966
   When: February 2009
   Where: An online auction site
Why: The comic is one of only 100 made and only one out of 20 that is not restored and untouched
How: The man found his copy of the comic in his garage and held onto it without telling anyone waiting for the value to increase
Lead: After being hidden away for years, a copy of the original "Action Comics No. 1" comic book, featuring Superman and friends, will make a comeback -- to the tune of about $400,000, a comic expert told CNN Thursday.
My lead: A man has held a comic for a long time since 1938 waiting for the sell price to rise. Right now the price is like 400,000 and possibly would rise.

Caption Practice

1.Senior Courtney Jackson smiles at the camera during the Akins Homecoming football game. She smiles as the quarterback makes a touchdown for the winning points,14-21.

2. Brandon Watson gets ready to make a three pointer at the playoff games in Round Rock. Brandon made the shot and won him fame and fortune for home and his teammates.

This picture shows the rule of simplicity, to where it made it to where it only focused on him :).

3. Gabe Maldonado is drawing a project that will sooner be sent to vase, a art competition set at San Marcos.
Later he wins the competition and succeeds to be a well known artist.

The rule of leading lines show in this picture through the angles of the table. And also the viewpoint is shown here too because the photographer got low :)

4. In the class of English 4 the Seniors are being presented to a stone feathered owl, to know research more about animal habitats and there behaviors for the essays that they will present. After the presentation most of the seniors have gotten so inspired to actually do there work, got A pluses.

Africa

1. On your blog post your reactions to the power point
I thought all the shots were good. They were all very interesting.
2. What was your favorite photo? Describe it and tell me why its your favorite
My favorite photo was of the rhino, it was a profile view of the rhino and the reflection on the water was also pretty clear.
3. Look up the photographer –
a.     What kind of camera did he use?
He shoots with a film camera.
b.     What is his reason for taking the photos?
He treats the photography of the wild animals of Africa as a fine art form.
c.     What is his hope by taking these types of photos?
To capture the beauty of these animals.
d.     “African wildlife has never looked so regal and mysterious as in Brandt’s grave photographs. His elephants appear as weighty as the pyramids. His rhinos look more ancient than carbon. His apes know something we don’t. Given the multitude of human disasters in Africa, is it an indulgence to lose yourself in pictures that carry no hint of the wars and famines outside the frame? Not when the pictures are such powerful reminders that Africa is also a magnificent—and endangered—treasure house of animal life.”

4. Find one of his photos that you really like and post it on your blog.
